Deployment

Quick and easy to assemble in 4 steps

The EUR125 Steel barrier is quick and easy to assemble. It is easy to understand and no tools are needed. No parts weigh more than 23 kg which makes it possible for one person to assemble the barrier. With 15 people, 1000 m of the EUR125 Steel barriers can be deployed in 3 hours.

1. Flat packed EUR125 metal supports placed in the barrier line

The flat-packed EUR125 metal supports are placed evenly distributed on the ground along the desired barrier line. The supports are then unfolded by simply lifting the front beam up and pushing the supporting beam into position.

2. EUR125 Metal support connected using the connection rods

Once the supports are unfolded and in place they are connected with the connection rods. They form a strengthening ‘brace’ through the whole construction and holds everything together.

3. Aluminum sheets placed onto the supports

The aluminum sheets are placed so they are leaning on an edge of the connection rods. The sheets are then secured by aluminium locks that are pushed into the quadratic holes of the connection rod.

4. Plastic membrane rolled out

The plastic membrane is then rolled out over the deployed metal barrier. Sealer clips on top of the barrier ensure that the plastic membrane stays in place before the water arrives. On the outer edge of the plastic membrane, a chain weight is placed, to hold the membrane down before the water pressure gets there.

EUR101 Test – Inspecta report

Inspecta is the leading provider of inspection, testing, certification and technical consultancy services in Northern Europe. Geodesign contracted Inspecta to verify a test of the new EUR101 Steel barrier. The purpose was to see if the barrier could withstand the pressure of extreme flooding scenarios. Inspecta’s report concluded that the EUR101 Steel barrier is well suited for the most extreme flooding conditions and that overtopping or moving water does not affect the stability of EUR101 Steel Barrier.

The test was carried out on 28 September, 2015 in Västervik, Sweden.
