Apartment Complex ‘Dennemarkenhof’, situated near ponds intended to buffer rainwater, has been a focal point of these efforts. Residents Peter Seegers and Henny Verhagen shared their experiences during the recent flooding. "I think it is now a meter higher than normal. At this time of year, in May, it is often a higher period and then it is almost dry here on the side. Now it is at least one meter," said Seegers. Verhagen added, "This morning when I got up it was quite a shock. We immediately cleared the basement as fast as possible. In 2016, we had 1.80 meters of water in the basement."
