Floodwater is a dynamic force that can exert significant pressure on any construction in its path. Our Heavy Duty flood barrier is designed to withstand these forces with a high safety margin. It is capable of handling strong currents, high water pressure, and additional loads such as waves and floating debris colliding with the barrier at high speeds. These capabilities were rigorously tested at the US Army Corps of Engineers Coastal and Hydraulics Laboratory in Vicksburg, MS, in accordance with the FM ANSI 2510-2020 standard.

Specially Designed Flood Barrier Modules for Challenging Obstacles
Heavy Duty is a versatile flood barrier system that is equipped with specially designed elements to suit various environments, including rural and urban areas. With adjustable connection rods and triangular-shaped corner elements, the barrier can be constructed in all directions and levels. Additionally, the Heavy Duty system can be seamlessly integrated with other Geodesign Barrier models, and its height can be extended as required. The system's flexibility is the result of years of experience in designing and using flood barriers.

Adjustable section
In certain circumstances, it may be necessary to erect a section that can be adjusted to fit the specific dimensions of the environment. To meet this requirement, Heavy Duty offers a solution featuring adjustable connection rods and triangular corner elements.
Uneven ground
To navigate over irregularities, curbs, or other immovable obstacles, it is possible to use metal supports placed at varying heights on either side of the obstacle. These supports can then be connected using adjustable connection rods, to which you hang the specially designed corner elements.
Corners
Corner sections ranging from 0 to 360 degrees can be constructed using adjustable connection rods and specialized corner elements, for both inner and outer corners.
Attachment to walls
Connecting a barrier to a vertical surface or a wall is a common requirement. Geodesign Barriers offer a solution as follows: Begin by placing one section of the barrier flush against the wall. Any gaps can be sealed using the Geodesign wall connection pad. A wall batten can then be installed to secure the outer edge of the plastic membrane in place.
Compatibility
Geodesign offers a range of temporary barrier models that are fully compatible with one another. These models can be used to create dams of varying heights, which can be adapted to suit the surrounding topography.
Extendable
Geodesign Barriers provides models ranging from 16 to 96 inches in height, with even intervals between them. However, there may be situations where a specific dam height is required that falls between two of these models. In such cases, Heavy Duty can be extended by 6 inches using an extension module.
Rapid Flood Protection: Deploying Geodesign's Heavy Duty Barrier is Like Building Meccano.
Geodesign's Heavy Duty flood barrier is built to withstand even the most challenging conditions. With its robust construction, this system provides reliable protection against flooding. Despite its strength, it's surprisingly quick and easy to deploy. In fact, the assembly process is reminiscent of building a Meccano set, with parts easily assembled piece by piece. You won't need any tools or machines either. The Heavy Duty flood barrier can be assembled quickly and easily, so you can be prepared for any potential flooding without difficulty.
Step 1. Place, unfold and lock the barrier supports
Begin by determining the location where you want to place your barrier line. Then, space each support 4 feet apart to form the barrier. Next, unfold the support beam(s) of each barrier support. Use the snap lock located on the bottom of the outer support beam to secure it in an upright position. Repeat this process for each support until your barrier line is complete.
Step 2. Connect barrier supports using link bars
Connect the barrier supports by attaching the link bars. Insert the link bars into the keyhole slots on the front beam of the support, allowing them to drop into place. The link bar design and the front beam slot ensure a locked connection without the need for additional parts or steps.
Step 3. Mount aluminum panel
Install the aluminum panels by hanging them onto the barrier, hooking them securely onto the protruding sections of the link bars through the designated cutouts. The panels are engineered with a self-locking mechanism that securely interlocks with the link bars, requiring no additional parts or steps and ensuring stability against wind forces. Begin with the top layer of panels to avoid obstruction during installation, allowing for a smoother, more accessible mounting process.
Step 4. Roll out the membrane
To install the membrane, roll it out along the barrier and secure it in place using panel clips at the top of the barrier. Then, attach a chain to the outer edge of the membrane on the ground and fasten it securely with cable ties.
Step 5. Anchor with water
As the flood water rises and applies pressure onto the barrier, it will anchor the system to the ground, providing additional stability and protection against flooding.

Comprising triangular A-frame barrier supports, connection rods, aluminium sheets, and a plastic membrane, this reliable and durable system has been continuously improved and optimized over the past 25 years to meet the evolving needs of our clients. Thanks to our collaborative development process, the Heavy Duty system is now a quick and easy-to-handle solution that can withstand extreme conditions. It is constructed from special steel sourced from SSAB and aluminium, and holds both BSI-Kitemark and FM-Approval certifications, attesting to its high quality and performance.
1. Anchoring with punched collars
Punched metal collars located underneath the bottom beam, which effectively grip the underlying surface and generate sufficient friction to ensure self-anchorage against the ground.
2. Hang-and-lock function
Innovative locking mechanism enables fast and easy mounting of connection rods and aluminum sheets without the need for tools or loose parts. This streamlined process saves time and effort, while ensuring a secure and reliable connection between components.
3. Aluminium sheet
Our chequer plate aluminum sheets are designed for durability and ease of use, featuring a corrosion-resistant finish that ensures longevity and strength. Laser-cut and beveled for precision, these sheets provide a winning combination of functionality and user-friendliness.
4. Panel clip
Our panel clip provides a user-friendly solution for fixing the membrane securely in place against the barrier. Featuring a simple and intuitive design, the clip can be easily applied by pressing it down over the membrane and the aluminum sheet.
5. Foldable Heavy Duty metal support
Our metal supports feature a collapsible and stackable design for user-friendliness and minimal storage volume. In upright position, the support beams transfer water pressure to the bottom beam, where metal collars increase anchoring force and stability through friction, ensuring a secure and reliable structure.
6. Spring-loaded snap-lock
The outer support beam is designed for ease of use, featuring a spring-loaded snap-lock that quickly and easily secures the beam in the upright position without the need for tools or screws. This streamlined process saves time and effort, while ensuring a secure and reliable structure before the water enters the barrier.
7. High strength steel
To ensure durability and longevity, we use high-strength steel for all components exposed to high loads. To further protect against corrosion, these components are hot-dip galvanized, providing an excellent level of resistance to environmental wear and tear.
8. Plastic membrane
Our Laminate-coated high-density polyethylene (HDPE) material is optimally sized and quality laminated to minimize leakage and maximize self-anchoring forces. With its durable laminate coating, this material provides a reliable and long-lasting solution for containing liquids and ensuring a secure barrier.
9. Chain - DIN 763
Our barrier system features a 0.47-inch x 16.4-foot galvanized steel chain, complete with carabiners, that is used to weigh down the membrane before the water enters. This effective and reliable solution ensures that the membrane remains securely in place when the water enters the barrier.
Packed in Weatherproof Metal Crates: Heavy Duty Flood Barrier System for Easy Storage and Transport
The Heavy Duty system is not only designed to perform under demanding conditions, but it is also packaged with convenience and efficiency in mind. The system comes packaged in powder-coated metal crates that are specially designed to optimize volume for transport and storage. Removable short sides make it easy to load and unload the crates, and the stackable design allows for efficient use of storage space.
For outdoor storage, the metal crates are covered with a PVC cover to protect the components from sun and rain. When it comes time to move the system, a manual forklift can be used to maneuver the crates into position.
A complete flood barrier set of 33 sections (131 feet) is packed into three metal crates, making it easy to transport and store the entire system in a compact and efficient manner. With this design, the Heavy Duty system offers not only reliable and effective flood protection, but also a streamlined and user-friendly packaging and storage solution.
Combi crate
The Combi crate is designed to contain connection rods, panel clips, plastic membrane, and chains. These crates are stackable with both themselves and aluminium crates, making them a versatile storage option. It's worth noting that the Combi crate maintains a consistent size across all Heavy Duty models.

Support crate
The support crate is designed to hold 33 supports, which are stacked in three rows of 11 supports each. The size of the crate vary depending on the specific model. Furthermore, these crates are stackable within the same model, providing an efficient use of storage space. The sides of the crate can be easily detached to facilitate loading and unloading.

Aluminium crate
The heavy-duty aluminium crate is specifically engineered to accommodate up to 66 aluminium sheets, delivering a robust and dependable storage solution. This crate can be conveniently stacked with other aluminum crate units, as well as with the combi crate, which has the same size specifications. Moreover, the aluminium crate is consistent in size across all heavy-duty models, ensuring uniformity and compatibility.
